Should You Use Atlas OS?

You are still using Windows

AtlasOS is a modification of Windows, and you still need a Windows license to try it out. Atlas OS uses the AME Wizard framework that does all the bloatware removal and optimizations to your current Windows installation.

Windows is slow, as it is slow to lock your entrance and make sure all windows are open when you leave your house. I’m just having a bit of fun.

The truth is that the people at AtlasOS actually managed to make quite a difference in performance.

Just one more joke: if you have a small engine car and remove everything not needed for driving, it will be noticeably faster. That was the last one. But you see my point.

How does it work

Atlas OS will optimize your Windows installation for gaming. You follow their instructions, download a tool, and run it. The tool

Basically, it runs a program that changes system settings, disables features you will not need for gaming, and removes lots of silent services.

I can live without telemetry, but imagine not having updates, SmartScreen, or tools for virus and malware protection.

I will get straight into it and recommend not to use Atlas OS on a work machine.

A noble cause?

Now I understand what Atlas OS is trying to achieve, and it’s a noble cause, giving more performance to an older device. Improving reusability is a great thing.

I agree that Windows comes packed with features you might not need currently running on your Windows PC, hogging all its resources.

The thing to understand here is that Windows is designed to work not only on many types of PCs but also to cover the needs of people using their computers for many different things.

Gaming and Business, for example, have different needs from their supporting OS. So, there will always be features you might not need on your OS, especially from one that was built for so many different usage cases.

Should you use it?

For gaming, I think Atlas OS will blow you away. You will feel the difference in whatever device or game is involved.

For anything else, even browsing, I cannot recommend Atlas. Security is vital. If you have important files on your computer, you are better off with the real deal.

You could dual-boot anytime. Yes, you can dual-boot Atlas OS and Windows.
